ACTING FOR FILM AND TV

GRADES 6-8

Introduces students to the development of skills in performance, script, and character development for on-camera acting.  Students will develop a foundation of skills and techniques for acting and auditioning for the camera.

ACTING I: SCENE STUDY

GRADES 7-9

Students will develop a range of skills including embodying a character, vocal expression, improvisation, storytelling, listening, and collaboration. This class includes a mix of improvised and scripted material - some of which may be pre-written (such as an age-appropriate monologue or scene), or student-written. In this class, the students will practice their acting skills while analyzing and rehearsing specific sections of a play of script with a strong focus on character development.

TEEN IMPROVISATION CLASS    

GRADES  7-12

Students will learn the techniques of Improvisational Theatre in a safe and fun environment that fosters teamwork and creativity. Through games and exercises students learn commitment, scene work, and how to create characters in a moment’s time -- all without a script! The class will present a final performance.

GRADES  7-12

You understand the improv basics. You are ready to dive in deeper!

In this class, we will focus on being clear, yet malleable in your thought process. Be ready to heighten your listening skills and overall sense of awareness! students will be reminded that creating a relatable story/scene requires these main elements

  • Confidence in what you know to be true in that moment.

  • An attentive ear, ready to accept verbal “gifts/offers” while your eyes are always looking for non verbal “gifts/offers”.

  • A sense of urgency to “meat” of the scene, but without rushing the moment.

  • Readiness to laugh at yourself and praise your peers.

To be eligible you must have at least 3 class sessions with any improvisational instructor/institution before taking this class.

The class presents a final performance.
